    Today, National Parks Conservation Association (NPCA) is an independent organization used to protect National Parks today and for future generations. The NPCA publish their own magazine and have grown to over 20 regional and field offices around the country.
    There's also the National Parks Service (NPS) is responsible for advising Congress about new potential parks and other land units of the NPS. They also research prospective sites ordered by Congress that could be made into National Parks.
    The qualifications for becoming a National Park are that it:
    Is an outstanding example of a particular type of resource
    Posses exceptional value of quality illustrating or interpreting the natural or cultural themes of our Nation's heritage
    Offers superlative opportunities for recreation for public use and enjoyment, or for scientific study
    Retains a high degree of integrity as a true, accurate, and relatively unspoiled example of a resource
